Whenever you go onto the Internet from your computer, you view the content through something called a "browser." A browser is software which converts the code with which a web page is created into something the average person can actually read, understand and use.
Currently, the most common browsers are: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari and Opera. Some ISPs provide their own software which includes a browser such as AOL or Juno. We will not cover those types of browsers in this training lesson.
The "Home Page" (sometimes written "Homepage") is the web page which appears when you first start your browser. This page, sometimes referred to as the "start up page," can be any page on the Internet or it can even be a blank page.
There are basically two ways to change your browser's Home Page: 1) some pages on the Internet will have buttons that read something along the lines of: "Make this your Home Page" and by simply clicking the button, the web page will make the changes on your computer; 2) you can change the web page manually.
